We all suffer from stress which eats off our good night sleep. A very dear of mine has been suffering from insomnia occasionally so I wanted to make him happy by making him a Sleep Well Box. The inspiration came from a videoblog of an ASMS artist called Springbok, all the glory to her!

Nuku hyvin -boksi / The Sleep Well Box
tarvikkeet / the materials:
* sakset / scissors
* liimaa / glue
* pieni pahvinen laatikko tai vastaava / a small cardboard box or something similar
* kahta eri kangasta, esim pitsiä, karvakangasta tms. / two different types of fabric, f.e. lace, furry fabric...
* akryylimaalia & sivellin / acrylic paint & a brush
* pieniä kartonkikortteja tai -palasia, 20-40 kpl / small paperboard cards or pieces
* erilaisia skräppäyspapereita / a selection of different scrapping paper
* erilaisia kyniä tai tusseja / a selection of pens or markers
* tarroja, nauhaa, koristeita yms / stickers, string, decoration material or so
* kaunista lahjanauhaa / beautiful gift string
Osa 1: Kannen päällystäminen / Part 1: Coating the cover
1. Sovita boksin kantta kangaspaloihisi ja päätä sisälle laitettava kangas sekä ulkopuolelle liimattava kangas. Leikkaa sopivat palat kankaista (muista jättää hieman hukkavaraa). / Fit the cover of the box with the fabrics and decide which one is for the inside and which one for the outside part. Cut out the suitable pieces out of the fabrics (remember to leave a little extra).
2. Levitä liimaa peittävästi kannen sisäpuolelle ja paina valitsemasi kangas pinnalle. Leikkaa ylinousevat reunat siisteiksi ja leikkaa pienet lovet kulmiin. Levitä vielä hieman liimaa kannen ulkopuolelle/reunoille ja taita reunuksen ylittävät kappaleet siististi kiinni kanteen. / Spread some glue on the inner part of the cover and press the fabric of your choice onto it. Even the outcoming part a little and cut small cuts on the corners. Spread some glue on the outside of the cover/ on the edges or sides and bend the fabric neatly on the sides.
3. Levitä liimaa nyt kannen päällysosalle ja liimaa toinen kangas kiinni. Leikkaa kankaan kulmiin viillot ja liimaa sivujen päälle siististi. Leikkaa lopuksi ylimääräinen osuus pois. / Spread glue on the other side of the cover and stick the other fabric on it. Cut proper straight cuttings on the corners of the fabric and glue the sides now as neatly as you can. Cut out the extra parts afterwards.
Osa 2: Rungon maalaus & koristelu / Part 2: Painting & Decorating the box
1. Sekoita akryylimaali notkeaksi ja maalaa sillä ensin laatikon sisäpuoli. Maalaa tämän jälkeen laatikko ulkopuolelta ja aseta sanomalehdelle tai muulle suojukselle kuivumaan. / Mix the acrylic paint and spread it over the inner part of the box. Paint it well. After that you may paint the exterior; leave the box to dry on a sheet of news paper or such.
2. Kun laatikko on pintakuiva, voit vaikkapa koristella sisäpuolta tarroilla (itse laitoin hopeanhohtoisia tähtiä). / When the box is dry you can decorate the interior with stickers ( I used silvery stars).
Osa 3: Korttien skräppäys / Scrapping the cards
1. Leikkaa kartonkikortit sopivan suuruisiksi, jotta ne mahtuvat laatikkoon. Muista jättää tilaa reunoille, jotta ne on helpompi nostaa ulos laatikosta...! / Cut the paperboard cards so that they fit the box. Remember to leave enough space around the edges so that it is easier to lift them out of the box...!
2. Leikkaa eri kokoisia suikaleita ja kuvioita skräppäyspapereista ja liimaile niitä korteille. Kirjoita päälle neuvoja, rohkaisevia lausahduksia ja viisauksia eri kynillä. Voit myös liimailla tarroja ja kuvia koristeiksi. HUOM! Vinkkejä yllä olevissa kuvissa. / Cut different shapes out of the scrapping paper and glue them on the cards. Write advices, encouraging words and words of wisdom with different types of pens on them. You may use some stickers and pictures for decoration, also. NOTICE! Some tips on the pictures above.
3. Jos laatikkoon jää ylimääräistä tilaa, voit näperrellä vaikkapa laatikkoon sopivan kirjanmerkin tai unisiepparin. HUOM! Katso kolmas kuva yläpuolelta! Voit kiinnittää askarruksen yhteen korteista ja asettaa päällimmäiseksi. / If there´s extra space inside the box you can make a small bookmark or a dream catcher that fits the box. NOTICE! Look the third picture above! You can attach the gift on to one of the cards and place as the top one.
Osa 4: Laatikon viimeistely / Part 4: Finishing the box
1. Kokoa kortit sisälle laatikkoon siististi ja aseta kansi päälle. Sido laatikko kiinni kauniilla lahjanarulla. / Put all the cards neatly inside the box and place the cover on. Use a beautiful gift string or decorative string to tie the box.
2. Voit liittää lahjaasi pienen kortin tai viestin. Itse ostin myös bonuksena Clipperin Sleep Easy -teetä, jolla on rentouttavia ja unensaamista helpottavia vaikutuksia. / You may attach a small card or a note with the gift. I bought Clipper´s Sleep Easy tea which has relaxing properties.
