*Syyspäivä Helsingissä! ~ an Autumn Day in Helsinki!*

Syyskoleutta estääksemme päätimme viettää päivän Helsingissä yhdessä parin ystäväni kanssa. Tässäpä kuvasaldoa reissulta...!

To prevent Autumn chilliness me and two friends of mine decided to spend a day in Helsinki. Here´s the results of the trip...!

Aamuvarhainen, kolea ilma ravisteli vielä viimeisiä unenrippeitä irti odotellessani junaa rautatieasemalla. Ikuistaessani aamukastetta sain seuraa vanhemmasta rouvashenkilöstä, joka tiivistetysti kertoi oman elämänsä kuulumiset seisoskellessamme junalaiturilla.

The chilly, early morning air shook off the last leftovers of sleep while I was waiting for the train at the railway station. While I was taking a picture of the morning dew I had company; an elderly lady joined me and started telling about her life as we stood on the platform.

Nähtyämme Helsingissä aloitimme ohjelmamme Kiasmasta. Museossa oli parhaillaan käynnissä pieniä performanssi-esityksiä sekä kaksi isoa näyttelyä: Jani Leinosen Tottelemattomuuskoulu sekä muotokuvanäyttely Face to Face.

After the get-together in Helsinki we started our day by visiting Kiasma. The museum had some small performance happenings and two big exhibitions: the School of Disobedience by Jani Leinonen and a portrait exhibition Face to Face.

Leinosen näyttelyssä kaiken keskipisteenä oli koulumainen rakennus, Tottelemattomuuskoulu, joka oli lavastettu opetusmaiseksi rakennukseksi. Yhdeltä seinältä löytyi myös painavaa tekstiä.

The centre of the Leinonen´s exhibition was the school building called the School of Disobedience, which was staged as a school-like place. We found some heavy words on one of the walls.

Yksi Leinosen kuuluisimmista teoksista, Elovena-tyttöä käsittelevä teossarja, löytyi myös näyttelystä. Ystäväni totesivat teokset hyvin vaikuttaviksi ja ajatuksia herättäviksi.

One of Leinonen´s most famous works, the series of Elovena girl, was in the exhibition as well. My friends told me that the works were very impressive mind openers.

Yhteiskunnallista epätasa-arvoa käsittelevä Leinonen oli paikoitellen tehnyt hyvin vakuuttavia ja isokokoisia teoksia.

Leinonen, who discusses about the inequality in sociaty, had made very impressive and large art works.

Yhdessä huoneessa oli oikeiksi hautakiviksi muovattuja suurien brändien tuotteita.

In one room there were products of big brands and companies sculpted as real grave stones.

Akryylimaaleilla maalattuja ja käsiteltyjä teoksia oli myös esillä näyttelyssä.

Some works painted with acrylic colours were in the exhibition as well.

Myös Face to Face -näyttely oli mielenkiintoinen muotokuvallinen katsaus arvoihin sekä rooleihin. Esillä oli taitavasti toteutettuja teoksia niin suomalaisilta kuin ulkomaisiltakin taiteilijoilta.

The Face to Face exhibition was an interesting collection that talked about values and roles. There were skillfully made art works from both Finnish and foreign artists.

Ruokailimme Vapianossa, joka oli uusi konsepti kahdelle seurueestamme. Kyseessä on useassa eri maassa toimiva pastaravintolaketju; tilaukset tehdään eri "luukuilla" ja tallennetaan korteille, joiden kautta lähtiessä vasta maksetaan. Hurmaavinta oli kun ruokaillessa pöydillä olevia yrttejä sai nyppiä aterian mausteeksi...!

We had lunch at Vapiano´s which was a new concept to two of us. It is a pasta restaurant chain working in different countries; the orders are made in different little stations and saved in cards which you use when you pay after your meal. The most charming thing was the fresh herbs you get to pick on top of your dish when you sat at the table...!

Ruokailun ja shoppailukierroksen jälkeen lähdimme Linnanmäelle hieman piristymään. Hurvitellessamme ystävieni ilmeet olivat kerrassaan ikimuistoisia...!

After the lunch and shopping we went to Linnanmäki to get some little cheer up. My friends´ faces were unforgettable when we had fun...!

Itse en kyennyt läheskään kaikkiin laitteisiin, sillä tulen helposti huonovointiseksi huvipuistoissa. Siitä huolimatta olen varma, että minua jännitti alhaalla vähintäänkin yhtä paljon kuin ystäviäni laitteiden kyydissä...!

I couldn´t try out most of the machines and rides because I easily get nauseous at amusement parks. Despite of that I´m sure I was at least as much excited to watch my friends as they were when they were taking the rides...!

Onnistuimme levähtämään hetken impro-teatteri Kolinan esiintyessä Linnanmäki-lavalla.

We had a chance to rest for a while watching the performance of an impro group called Kolina who was performing in the Linnanmäki stage.

Luulin Kyöpelinvuoren hotellia ihan oikeaksi hotelliksi...! Kyseessä oli kuitenkin kauhuteemainen huvipaikka.

I thought that the Kyöpelinvuori Hotel was a real one...! It was revealed as horror-themed place afterwards.

Kokeilimme onneamme eri pelipaikoilla, mutta isoja voittoja ei valitettavasti herunut. Se ei kuitenkaan pelaa joka pelkää...!

We tried our luck in different game areas but we didn´t get any big prizes. But he who is afraid does not gamble, right...?!

Voi sitä hymyn ja kiljahdusten määrää kun pääsimme maailmanpyörän kyytiin! Ikuistimme kokemustemme kunniaksi itseämme sekä toisiamme Helsingin korkeuksissa.

Oh the amount of smiles and screams of fun when we get to the Ferris wheel! We took pictures of ourselves in the hights of Helsinki to remember how fun we had.

Annoin lähtiäislahjaksi ystävilleni itsetekemiä Ystävyys-nimisiä kuppikakkuja. Olin pakannut nämä vaniljan ja kaakaon-makuiset herkut hyvin matkaa varten.

As a parting gift I gave my friends some Friendship Cupcakes which I had made myself. I had packed these vanilla and cocoa flavoured delicacies well so they survived the whole day.

Helsingistä tuli ostettua kaikenlaista, mm. japanilaisia herkkuja Tokyokanista, ihania teepussukoita the Ouncesta, namusia Linnanmäeltä, kaksi paria korvakoruja Ninjasta sekä miesten ihonhoitotuotteita tuliaisina hurmaavasta Lushista. Terveiset kotiseudulle kantoi mukanaan myös pelikojulta voittamani vaaleanpunainen pehmokoiruli.

The things I bought from Helsinki: some Japanese yummies from Tokyokan, lovely paper bags full of tea from the Ounce, candies from Linnanmäki, two pairs of ear rings from Ninja and some skin products for men from Lush, to give away. The greetings were also carried back by the pink soft doggie plush I won in Linnanmäki.
